چکیده

Abstract Background Available data from witnessed and monitored sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) cases postulate that ictal central apnea (ICA) arrhythmias are the main causes of SUDEP. ICA is a frequent semiological feature focal occasionally only clinical manifestation seizures. The aim this study was to assess frequency cardiac epileptic patients risk factors predictors their occurrence. Methods Fifty diagnosed with were recruited study. All participants underwent prolonged surface video electroencephalography (VEEG) using 10-20 international electrode system concomitant polysomnography including electrocardiography (ECG), heart rate monitoring, peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ) pulse oximetry. Also inductance plethysmography used record chest abdominal excursions. Results Complete datasets available 50 112 seizures recorded. occurred exclusively ( P <0.001). Temporal lobe associated higher occurrence comparison extratemporal In addition, lateralized left hemisphere On other side, tachycardia found be more temporal hemispheric seizure onset Conclusion magnitude seizures, both had percentage types onset.

Cardiac arrhythmias during or after epileptic seizures

Seizure-related cardiac arrhythmias are frequently reported and have been implicated as potential pathomechanisms of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). We attempted to identify clinical profiles associated with various (post)ictal cardiac arrhythmias. We conducted a systematic search from the first date available to July 2013 on the combination of two terms: 'cardiac arrhythmias' and ...

Ictal injury in psychogenic non-epileptic seizures

PURPOSE Whilst ictal injuries in psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) have been reported previously, very few studies have described the spectrum of ictal injuries in these patients. In the current study, we tried to determine the spectrum of reported ictal injuries associated with PNES and to investigate the possible associated risk factors. METHODS All patients with PNES were recruited...

Frequency of Cardiac Arrhythmias in Patients with Aluminum Phosphide Poisoning

Background: Cardiac failure is the major lethal consequence of aluminum phosphide (AlP) poisoning. This study was designed to determine the frequency of cardiac arrhythmias in patients with AlP poisoning. Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, patients with definitive history of AlP poisoning treated at emergency department of Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Faisalabad, Pakistan, from ...

Vomiting as an ictal manifestation of epileptic seizures and syndromes.

Twenty-four out of 900 adult and children patients with epilepsy, were found to have vomiting during an ictus. All the 24 patients were children before puberty with a similar clinical pattern consisting of partial seizures which were mainly nocturnal. Ictal vomiting was always concurrent with other epileptic manifestations, more often deviation of the eyes and impairment of consciousness. The i...

Topographic movie of intracranial ictal high-frequency oscillations with seizure semiology: epileptic network in Jacksonian seizures.

PURPOSE We developed a technique to produce images of dynamic changes in ictal high-frequency oscillations (HFOs) >40 Hz recorded on subdural electroencephalography (EEG) that are time-locked to the ictal EEG and ictal semiology video. We applied this technique to Jacksonian seizures to demonstrate ictal HFO propagation along the homunculus in the primary sensory-motor cortex to visualize the u...
